Finally, the cold, dark dreary days of winter are behind us! The Washington DC metro area is so beautiful at this time of year. Many neighborhoods, such as the property above in the Belle Wood/Seminary Valley area of Alexandria, have very mature landscaping that come alive in the Spring and carry on generally through November. At the end of March, 2009, this particular area of the city has only one house on the market; one under contract and five sales for the past six months. The average sales price for this time period was $520,000 for single family detached houses. The highest sales price was $675,000. This area is in the "West End" section of Alexandria with borders of Seminary Road to the north, Jordan to the east, Duke St. to the South and Van Dorn to the west. There is public transportation available and several shopping areas for convenience. There is also a biking/jogging trail that links up to access Old Town Alexandria and Washington DC.There are two elementary schools in the neighborhood and the Middle School is very near on Seminary Road. It's a lovely area, especially at this time of year. I encourage you to take a drive though the neighborhood and check it out. No doubt, there will be more opportunity to purchase a home in these neighborhoods in the coming weeks.
